Eight Minnesota cities will receive Active Transportation Planning Assistance grants from the state, reports Ali Reed in KEYC News Now. The funding will help cities develop plans for growing biking and walking as mode shares and reducing carbon emissions. The grantees include St. Peter, Minneapolis, Rochester, St. Paul, Coon Rapids, Roseville, Alexandria and Cannon Falls.
According to Reed, “Funded by the Minnesota Legislature, the grants cover the estimated $100,000 cost of technical assistance from a consultant, such as developing an action plan and demonstration project. The cities will not receive money directly from MnDOT.”
